The Abbotsford News has recently posted stories about a school board member’s social media post expressing support for biological “transgender” men being banned from competing in women’s sports, sharing a picture of Donald Trump signing an executive order on the issue. The trustee, Mr. Jared White, made the following comment:
“No more biological males in women’s/girls’ sports. No more biological males in women’s/girls’ bathrooms and locker-rooms. No more teaching vulnerable children that they can be both genders or neither. Enough. Common sense is making a come back and it’s about time.”
The Abbotsford School District then issued the following statement:
Dear staff, students, and families:
Statements made by Trustee White on a recent social media post do not reflect the views of the board and do not align with our statutory obligations, policies, and values. The Abbotsford Board of Education is committed to ensuring safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for all students and staff regardless of gender identity or expression.
Sincerely,
Shirley Wilson, Chair of the Abbotsford Board of Education
Sean Nosek, Superintendent of Schools, Abbotsford School District
The school board then followed to censure the trustee, Mr. Jared White along with fellow trustee Mr. Mike Rauch who made a comment on the social media post.
This happening is very concerning considering the right to free speech on issues such as this. Many people have been rightly concerned about biological men competing in women’s sports, and for someone in a position of authority on a school board to be supportive of that is very healthy. The actions of the Abbotsford School Board have brought punishment toward a very valid opinion on the matter, which is a very terrible violation of free speech.
Here is a version of a letter that has been sent to some of the people involved:
Following a recent event that had the school board taking measures against a member expressing certain things about the issue of transgender people, I feel it necessary to inform you of a balanced view on the issue.
Many parents are becoming more and more concerned these days with the approaches and habits that some transgender people have been using. There has been a lot of research done, but Iwhat matters most is the good health of anyone involved. On the website for the American College of Pediatricians, many things are found about the practices of some transgender people that can help better form a balanced opinion on the issue.

Please help concerned parents by addressing these issues. Our school board and teachers are not psychologists and doctors. The policy on these sorts of issues need a more proper review if we are to have a healthier school environment.
Much of the media in general across North America and the rest of the world has lately been very one-sided on issues like this, which is a very poor state for any form of media to be in. The role of the media is to bring balance and fair opinions to the public, and concerning matters such as this, that factor is extremely important.
There has been a great imbalance in Western society today when it comes to the representation of social sexual issues. Religious views often get wrongfully termed “homophobic”, “hateful” or “intolerant.” and their point of view is then not represented with fairness and balance in the media as the principles of good journalism dictate that they should.
It must be clear that religious teachings, along with the many spiritual people who adhere to those teachings, consider forms of sexual deviancy to be immoral. It is a gross misuse of the process of human procreation, a process deemed very sacred and best practiced with great preparedness and a lifelong dedication to raising children created through the process.
Stating that forms of sexual deviancy are a great disrespect to that sacred process that has brought every single person into existence is not an act of hatred and intolerance, but instead an expression of good reason and common sense. There are many known physical and mental health risks associated with lifestyles of sexual deviancy. Some activists have made great efforts to discredit valid studies those prove those health risks, but the risks will always exists.
Many also seek to prove that changing sexually deviant behaviours is impossible, but there are many success stories that can be shared, many of which come from religious groups that aim to help people rid their lives of sin. Change is indeed possible and has been happening very regularly.
This crucial issue must be understood in the light of good reason that religious teachings admonish, and the value of that good reason needs better representation in the media and in our educational system.
To any form of media who has the public’s ear: please help bring back the balance to this issue that society needs to hear. Please stand up for the family and religious values that keep our society healthy and strong. Let the voices of reason be heard that express the values that religious teachings hold that the sexual process of procreation is to be respected, and the habits and lifestyles that do not do that are proven to be unhealthy time and time again. It is our responsibility to uphold those values, teaching them to generations to come so they may know how to react to the cultures of sexual deviancy that have been seeking to discredit the good reasoning of religious beliefs.
Any acts of hatred or sentiments of inequality toward the sexually deviant are not right. They deserve the lives of peace and serenity that God made for us all. As an act of loving mercy, it is within reason to simply warn them of their sinful, immoral, unhealthy practice and encourage them to change.
