Via Wikipedia & Jesus Freak Hideout: Dime Store Prophets (also stylized as Dimestore Prophets) was a Christian modern rock/alternative band from the San Francisco Bay Area, active from the mid- to late-1990s (roughly 1993–1998). Led by vocalist/guitarist Justin Dillon Stevens (Justin Stevens), with members including Masaki Lui (guitar), Sam Hernandez (bass), and Phil Meads (drums), they delivered thoughtful, introspective lyrics paired with rootsy rock influences. Signed to 5 Minute Walk Records, they released *Love is Against the Grain* (1995) and *Fantastic Distraction* (1997), featuring tracks like “Feels Like Rain,” “Hitler’s Girlfriend,” and “Break The Blue.” Their sound emphasized better songwriting in the emerging Christian alternative scene. The band disbanded in the late ’90s, with Justin Stevens pursuing other projects. Note: A separate contemporary Dimestore Prophets from Moses Lake, WA (groove/rock/reggae) exists but is unrelated to the ’90s Christian act highlighted here.
